Dan Neville who is President of IAS gave an excellent thought provoking speech today at the Carers information day in Newcastlewest. Some of the facts stated on the day by Dan was that over 11,000 people were listed in the casualty figures from last year for suicide,he later spoke about recognising the symptoms of people and how they can be identified ….a person tidying up their affairs in a hurry, people who state “I wish i was dead” are some of the tell tale signs of suicide in our society. There is cry for help by many people but some feel it is still a stigma to come forth and seek help .
A comment from a person next to me was look at our weather dour dull and depressing, the current state of the economy ,people living beyond their means ….the credit card crunch .
The IAS is there to offer help…
The website for suicide awareness is www.ias.ie
