Caring for Carers, Limerick Branch wish to Thank all the girls who took part in The Limerick Womens Mini Marathon Sunday 4th October 2009. It was a glorious day with the sun beaming down on the University Limerick Campus where all the ladies were congregated . The atmosphere was fantastic with Limerick Live 95 fm adding to the fun.

We would also like thank all the people who sponsered our walkers or helped in any way towards the success of the day.

Caring for Carers, Limerick Branch have launched our new uniform this morning for our care workers. The top is a lovely light blue with our “Caring for Carers” logo complemented by navy blue pants.

Caring for Carers, Limerick Branch held a “Hoist Education Morning” at our office in 1 John’s Street, Limerick.  Deirdre Fee from Medical Express along with Thomas from www.fannin.ie  kindly demonstrated to our care workers how to use the hoist. The morning was a great success and is part of our ongoing training mornings to upskill our care workers. A big thank you to them both for their time and expertise.   Deirdre very kindly left the hoist equipment for an extra week so our nurses can demonstrate any points that the carers wish to revise.  Thanks once again to Seán for the great photos.

Caring for Carers Limerick Branch would like to thank JTI Ireland, Community Care Committee for choosing us as one of their nominated charities. We are extremely grateful for their generous donation. It makes us feel appreciated that all our hard work in the caring field is appreciated. Thanks to all concerned – especially Eamonn.

Congratulations to the 23 Family Carers who have just completed a 12 week “Caring in the Home Course”. They were presented with their Certificates on Thursday night by Peter, Area Manager for the Elderly/ H.S.E   Mass was read by Fr. Pat Bluett. The night was a great success with teas and refreshments laid on by St Ita’s Catering Staff.

Over the course of the 12 weeks the family carers have got to know each other and share their experiences on caring, proving how invaluable the social side of the Courses are. They are now encouraged to join the very successful West Limerick Caring for Carers Support Group, Majella being at hand to meet and greet them.

Caring for Carers wish to sincerely thank everyone who participated or helped in any way over the last 12 weeks namely ,  Area Manager for the Elderly/H.S.E, Peter;  Fr. Pat Bluett;  A/Director of Nursing Maura, Margaret and the Staff at St. Ita’s Hospital; all the course speakers; course co-ordinators Renee, Mary and Margaret. Last Saturday -  20th June 2009 a group of 12 carers successfully completed a Safe Handling Course at St Ita’s Hospital, Newcastle West.
